Fellowship Opportunities
Twinklers: A group for youth pre-school through first grade. It meets 3-4 times a year for fun, fellowship and a servant project.
Little Lights: A group for youth in grades 2 through 5. It meets five or six times a year to share Christian activities full of fun and Christian learning.
C.I.A: A group for youth in grades 6 through 8. Each month the group will experience activities, concerts, youth gatherings, and chances to server our Lord in different ways. The kick-off get-together is a pizza party in September. Other events include: a Halloween party, Power of One concert, sponsorship of the annual Mardi Gras evemt; and attendance at the Junior Youth Gathering in March. Senior Youth: A group for youth in grades 9 through 12. It meets twice a month. One the second Sunday of the month at 9:15 a.m. members meet with young adults in the congregation to discuss current issues and share their faith. The second meeting each month includes youth-led activities.
Helping Hands anyone who likes to quilt, knit or crochet is invited to come on Monday Mornings from 9 AM until noon. We make quilts for local shelters and Africa. Helping Hands also makes pillow cases for children staying at local hospitals, we knit lap robes for cancer patients, prayer shawls and just recently, knit caps for Haiti infants and skull caps for soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
Seniors Rule is a group for those age 50 and older. It meets on the first Thursday of each month for an outing, a meal or other activity. Watch the bulletin board for information and sign-up sheets.
Women of St. John. The women's group at St. John has an informal organization with a planning group responsible for various activities throughout the year.
Souper Soup Sunday is a fund-raising event in which a quart of homemade soup, bread and bars are sold after worship services.
Equal Exchange coffee and tea are sold twice a month after Sunday worship services to benefit coffee growers in economically challenged areas of the world.
Women's Night Out - All women of the congregation are invited to meet for dinner at a local restaurant. At this gathering, the names of prayer partners for the coming year are chosen and a decision made on how to distribute funds raised by the Women of St. John during the year.
Confirmation gift of a personalized Christmas ornament is given to each girl confirmand to welcome her into the membership of the Women of St. John.
Care Packages are sent to the congregation's college students twice a year. They contain homemade cookies, cocoa, microwave popcorn and other snacks; also a card or other greeting to the student. The care packages will be assembled in November and April.
Friday Morning Coffee: Join the church staff and other members at 10:00 A.M. each Friday for fellowship and a cup of coffee.
Sunday Morning Coffee: Between worship services on Sunday mornings everyone is welcome to gather in narthex and share Fellowship and coffee. During Summer months coffee and Fellowship are held in the Fellowship area.
